2005 Updates

JANE SUMMERHAYS wrote in to tell us of her latest project: "At the Pittsburgh Public Theatre - the American Premiere
of Alan Ackybourne's Roleplay. Starts rehearsals Aug 30 and closes October 23. Very excited about it. A great role."

MERETE MUENTER wrote in to say, "I am working as a Director Associate with the Off Off Broadway Theater Company called The Prospect Theater Company. Their 2005-2006 season consists of three new musicals, the first one being done in conjunction with the New York Musical Theater Festival in September. We are not an actual part of the festival, but we are sharing the same theater space with some festival shows so we are included in with them. We are in the auditioning process of our first show of the season called The Tutor. I will actually be assistant directing their final show of the season in April which is called Iron Curtain, so I am very excited about that." DON HITE conducted and Musically Directed Charlotte Summer Theatre's grand production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and has moved from Los Angeles to Hilton Head Island, SC to chair the performing arts department of an independent prep school and build a new performing arts venue for the world class resort of Sea Pines, where the school sits. He is also the Executive Producing Director for BROADWAY CAROLINA! which recently toured LULLABY of BROADWAY: A NEW SONG AND DANCE CONCERT EXPERIENCE -- which he also arranged and conducted.

Erin Hunter will be choreographing and performing in a new show at The Gerald Lynch Theater at John Jay College (cf. Following The Line for details). She also tells us, " I also just finished spring seasons with C.Eule Dance and Erica Essner Performance Coop - both were reviewed! (We had reviews in the Voice, Gay City News and the Times!). Anyway, life is good - Chip and I got an adorable schnoodle puppy we named Polly. Love to all!"

Terry French wrote to tell us that he's translating stage plays into German. "Love to all those still around from the 1980 Berlin production of ACL."

David Thomé wrote to say that he's "Currently living with partner, Larry Watchorn, in Orlando, FL… and LOOKING FOR WORK! "

Mitzi Hamilton is directing and choreographing a production of A Chorus Line for the Syracuse Talent Company. The show runs from April 8 - May 8

Karen Lloyd is wardrobe supervisor for the Broadway production of RENT.

2004 Updates

JoAnna Zercher Langthorn wrote in to say that after she left the show she, "returned to Texas and completed an MFA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Tx in 1986. I have been teaching and choreograhping since then in Texas and Okalahoma. I was an assistant professor in Theatre at Camerson University in Oklahoma for five years until I met and marrried my husband Tom Langthorn there. We now live in Temple, TX and have two children Jeremy (age 9) and Bonnie (age 8). That's right, I had them at age 40 and 42! I am still teaching musical theatre dance students in Temple and often choreograph for the high school, civic theatres, and Mary Hardin Baylor University... Special hellos to Ron K, Sachi S., Donn S., Lisa C., Tracy S. and Bebe.

Karen Johnson is completing her Master's Degree in Theatre Research after having choreographed Tin Symphony for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Australia. She also was back on the stage in Footloose and was choreographer and assistant director for Leader of the Pack in Sydney. Read more in her e-Note.


Matthew-Jason Willis just finished playing Beverly Carlton in Thompson Theatre's production of The Man Who Came to Dinner.His performance as The Cat in Honk! received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Leading Actor Cantey Award. He's now designing make-up for Follies at Stewart Theatre before he takes some time off to rest up and then it's on to A Christma Carol.

Erin Hunter wrote to say that she is both dancer and choreographer for the dance concert "Unframed" at Dance Theater Workshops' Bessie Schonberg Theater on June 24- 26. "Please come - it should be a fun and interesting evening. (And, since its a fairly large house we need audience members!!)   I'll be dancing with my sister Faith too!.... Also, I'll be dancing in the new broadway show Masada (choreographed by David Parsons!) next winter!! Yeah!! Can't wait! OF course, I'll be at the beach this summer!  Anyway, lots of love, Erin"

Stephen Nachamie writes, "The summer crept up on me sooner than I thought (I began CABARET rehearsals today)... I wanted to update you all on my whereabouts! I am very excited about my summer season. Please keep in touch and let me know if you can come see one of my shows! (cf.. Following The Line for details)

Pamela Pagano, who wrote to "say hi to all you Chorus Liners in the world," is currently promoting her new album for which she is both singer and writer. Read about it at the website http://www.shyband.it.

Marilyn Villamar participated in the Paris Marathon on April 4.

Jennifer Brooks has been in Florida for the last 7 months working at the Broadway Palm and Naples Dinner Theater in productions of A Chorus Line, White Christmas, Pirates of Penzance and Gigi. "I return to the 'Big Bad Apple' on Monday April 26th and it's back to waiting tables. I miss everyone and look forward to seeing you all."

Jani Walsh (Weber) has decided it is time to "move on" after three years as resident director with The Lion King. Her last day with the show in Germany is May 30. "Sad to leave such a beautiful show but excited about the future." She says she's looking to move back to the States with her husband, Manfred Weber, and their two daughters. Read her e-note here.

Ross Coleman wrote to say that he's beginning rehearsals for Urinetown in Melbourne; he's choreographing the show. He has been nominated for an award for a production of Bye Bye Birdie which he directed and choreographed.

Chris Boyd wrote to update us, "Well, I have been traveling the world doing Swing! (a lot of fun). Went to Vegas for a minute and then did Songs For A New World in Kansas (singing for Jesus, wow the hardest show of my life) Now I am off to VA to do this show Girl Of My Dreams, I was missing dancing. I still got a few more "Shit Richies" in me before I'm done..smile. I am engaged now to my partner of almost 4 years yea! still in the city and I'm happy.

Matthew-Jason Willis wrote to say that he is living in Raleigh, NC. "I am choreographing Big River and Godspell right now and I also choreograph and perform in Theatre in the Park's tour of A Christmas Carol which Stephen Nachamie beat me out for the NC Triangle Award this year. Up next I am playing Cat in Honk! at The Gaddy-Goodwin Theatre. I hope to do ACL again in the future."

Stephen Nachamie was awarded the 2003 North Carolina Triangle Best Choreographer Award for his recreation of Jerome Robbins' West Side Story. He tells us, " I am prepping my TAIWAN DIARIES for the stage this summer!  Lots of Directing and Choreographing on the way!"

Kenney M. Green is currently serving as assistant to K.D. Smith  and Resident Musical Director for The Broadway Theatre.  "We just closed  Forever Plaid on Jan. 4th to a great run.  Starting rehearsals for My One and Only portraying "Mr. Magic" at the Stage Door Theatre in Ft. Lauderdale."
